A choral song cycle, based around the life and music of Austrian composer Heinrich von Herzogenberg, his idol, Johannes Brahms, and the woman they both loved, Elisabeth, performed in Graz's beautiful Minoritensaal.
This intimate portrait of three artists was pieced together from the 700 letters they exchanged through their life, full of humour, candour and insight. Herzogenberg's beautiful compositions captured the romantic currents beneath the 19th century formality with impressive scale and scope.
The rediscovery of a forgotten master, in a unique and moving new form.
